Seven Summits Stubaital

Stubaital attracts visitors with seven characterful mountains. The Seven Summits Stubai aren’t all about altitude, but about what the mountains mean to people. Each of the Seven Summits leaves a lasting impression, has stories to tell, or has a striking effect on the landscape. They were selected by local hiking and mountain guides to show Stubaital to our guests in all its fascinating glory.

  • Mt Zuckerhütl at 3,507m high and snow-capped all year round
  • Varied Mt Wilder Freiger at 3,418m high
  • Mt Habicht at 3,277m high, once considered Tyrol’s highest mountain
  • Mt Rinnenspitze at 3,003m high, one of the most easily scalable 3,000m peaks
  • Mt Serles at 2,717m high, referred to as the “High Altar of Tyrol” by Goethe
  • Mt Hoher Burgstall at 2,611m high, which is easy to scale and rewards you with a stunning panoramic view
  • Mt Elfer at 2,505m high, Neustift’s local mountain

You can discover more about the striking peaks and their legends on your ascent to the individual summits. You can also get a summit passport from the tourist information office that lets you document each ascent and promises an award depending on the number of summits scaled.

Stubai’s mountain lakes

Crystal-clear water, rugged rockfaces – Stubai’s mountain lakes are heavenly tour destinations! The idyllic lakes, like Lake Blaue Lacke, Lake Grünausee, or Lake Mutterberger See, are real natural jewels. They not only make for stunning photos, but also offer rewarding refreshment after a challenging ascent. A hike to one of the many lakes is a must on your hiking holiday!

WildeWasserWeg water trail

We’re excited to tell you about one of the most spectacular hikes in Stubaital. The WildeWasserWeg water trail leads past rushing mountain streams and awe-inspiring waterfalls. The highlight of the trail has to be Grawa waterfall, which, at 85 metres wide, is the widest waterfall in the Eastern Alps. A well-made hiking path leads to a viewing platform that brings you close to the thundering water. The WildeWasserWeg water trail is split into several stages that you can hike and explore as you wish – with fantastic views of the wild waters of Stubaital guaranteed.

In your running shoes

Runners can still indulge in their favourite workout on their holiday in Stubaital. You’ll find varied routes all around – from level paths that lead through the whole valley to challenging high-altitude trails with spellbinding views. With its breathtaking mountain lakes, waterfalls, and other spectacular waters, the region’s Alpine landscape makes an unforgettable setting for your runs.

Everyone from beginners to pro runners can stay in top physical shape here, while the beautiful mountain landscape restores balance to body and mind.

Our tip: The Stubai Ultratrail 2025 features the motto “Epic Trails. Epic Valley.” It takes place on the weekend of 27 to 28 June 2025 and promises a spectacular trail-running experience in the loveliest valley in the Alps. Five trails of varying distances lead you through the idyllic nature of Stubaital. All routes begin and end in Neustift, making the event a celebration for all the participants.

On 27 September 2025, the Kalkkögel Trail (formerly the Schlickeralm run) will be taking place in Telfes for the second time.

In the saddle

A cyclist’s dream: A stunning cycle path begins right behind your home for your holiday. In summer, Stubaital has more to offer than lofty peaks and icy giants: There are countless routes for cyclists and mountain bikers, for example from Schönberg to the foot of the Stubai Glacier.

Stubaital is THE bike arena in the heart of Tyrol: countless trails and cycling routes guarantee action for all ages and abilities. The 720-kilometre-long network of cycle paths with around 13,000 metres of altitude difference is well marked. Interactive maps on signposts make navigation easy. Signposts and markings at the starting point and along the routes make it simple to find your way.

If you think biking in Stubai is just for pros, think again – the region is also perfect for families and leisure cyclists! Plus: Numerous eateries serving up delicious Stubai specialities make every tour that little bit sweeter. And thanks to e-bikes, you don’t have to be in top shape to reach lofty heights.

Our insider tip: Explore the surroundings with an (e-)mountain bike, which you can rent directly from a rental outlet in the village for a fantastic rate (10% special discount for Alphof guests).

In your climbing belt

Stubaital boasts a number and variety of climbing opportunities seen in few of Tyrol’s other Alpine valleys. The beauty of the high mountains and optimal rock conditions make our home a paradise for climbing enthusiasts.

You’ll find several multi-pitch routes that are well secured with bolts as well as a multitude of challenging Alpine climbs. The Kalkkögel range and Pinnistal offer numerous serious routes with tricky securing options. Due to the not entirely reliable rock conditions and difficulty level, these tours are only suitable for highly experienced Alpine climbers.

Sports climbers will be in seventh heaven in Stubaital’s secured climbing gardens. The climbing hall in Fulpmes also offers a range of challenges, whatever the weather. The Adventure Park, which is also located in Fulpmes, is the largest high-ropes course in Tyrol, with 130 challenges across 13 routes. Kid, adult, beginner, or pro: Everyone will have the time of their lives.

In winter, ice climbing is the ultimate highlight. The icefalls in Pinnistal and Unterbergtal are some of the most famous ice tours in Austria. If it’s your first daring experience on the ice, we recommend a course at the ice climbing tower at the Stubai Glacier, where you can learn the basics from Stubai mountain guides.

Into the cool water

Want to cool off? Take advantage of the various bathing spots and wellness facilities in the valley! The free Stubai Super Card gives you free access to the StuBay water and sauna paradise, the Neustift indoor pool, and the Miederer Schwimmbadl pool. The more hardcore nature lovers can jump into one of the countless mountain lakes.

Water playground at Klaus Äuele Kids’ Park

Does your family love adventures in the great outdoors? Then head over to the thrilling water playground at Klaus Äuele Kids’ Park! Kids of all ages will have a whale of a time learning about nature in the beautiful mountain setting.

The playground takes the little adventurers through splashing streams and encourages them to build dams, experiment at little waterfalls, and splash around at the water wheel. Aquatic fun galore! While the kids play and explore, parents can relax while marvelling at the awe-inspiring mountains all around.

Tree house trail

The pushchair-friendly tree house trail is easily walkable and leads through an almost 5,000m2 area of forest. Bardin the dwarf is waiting to welcome you at the entrance, which is located at the middle station of the Kreuzjoch cable car in Schlick 2000. It takes around two hours to walk to Vergör and back again, with an elevation difference of around 100 metres – plus a few more if you climb up into the seven spectacular tree houses!

Each tree house is dedicated to a different theme about the dwarven lifestyle. The concept was brought to life with loving attention to detail by local experience workshop Natur Idea – creating a colourful world of adventure between the forest floor and the treetops.

Want an example? Let’s visit the first tree house! Following the path from the middle station towards Froneben, you’ll soon reach the dwarven playground up in the trees. Little visitors can have fun on the zipwire, suspension bridge, and net pipe tunnel. A bridge takes you from the path up to the wooden construction. You then go through a tunnel to a platform, and the zipwire is found in the main tree house. Amethyst, quartz, and fool’s gold glitter in the sunlight, a dwarf telephone provides plenty of entertainment, and a double swing lets you feel like you’re flying.

Thinking is wonderful, but the experience is even more wonderful.
